Late summer is all about BBQ and berries. This delicious sauce combines the two. It’s rich, savory, and smoky, and the blueberries come through just right.
Dice onion and mince garlic cloves.
Heat olive oil in a saucepan. Add onions and garlic and sauté until softened, stirring occasionally, about 6 minutes.
Add blueberries, liquid smoke, agave nectar, apple cider and balsamic vinegar, molasses, smoked paprika, lemon juice, chili powder, salt, and pepper.
Stir to combine. Reduce the heat to low and cook, stirring occasionally, until the sauce is slightly reduced and bubbling, 6 to 9 minutes.
Remove from heat and let cool 15 minutes. Blend until smooth with immersion blender, or transfer to blender.
