How to Make a Classic Italian Sub Sandwich

Nothing beats layers of cured meats, salty cheese, shredded lettuce, and thick tomatoes. These smart tips make this Italian sub stay fresh all day long. 

Assemble ingredients: prosciutto, salami, provolone cheese, tomatoes, pepperoncinis, lettuce, salt, pepper, and oregano.

STEP 1

Split sub roll in half. Scoop out some of the bread from the top half, and spread mayo on the bottom half. 

STEP 2

Layer on prosciutto, salami, provolone cheese, tomatoes, and pepperoncinis on the bottom half. Add shredded lettuce to the top half. 

STEP 3

Drizzle olive oil and red wine vinegar on the lettuce. Sprinkle salt, pepper, and oregano on the bottom half. Close the sandwich.

Cut in half or in quarters crosswise with a serrated knife. Serve immediately.
