How to Cook Perfect Steak on the Stovetop

This simple three-step method will give you a perfectly cooked stovetop steak with a tender buttery flavor, cooked just the way you like it, every time.

Place steaks on a paper towel-lined plate and pat dry.

STEP 1

Season liberally with salt.

Heat cast iron skillet on high heat for about 10 minutes. 

STEP 3

Place steaks in skillet and cook for 1 minute. Flip and cook for another minute. Continue cooking and flipping for a total of 4 minutes.

Add butter, garlic, and herbs to skillet. Flip the steaks and use spoon to baste with butter. 

STEP 5

Cook steak to your preferred doneness. Rest the steaks for 5 minutes before cutting.
