As far as breakfast is concerned, the yogurt bowl ranks low in sexiness and allure — but as far as I can tell, that’s really not the point of yogurt. Once you start to see yogurt as a blank canvas for endless toppings, you’ll see what I mean when I say there are infinite ways to eat your morning bowl of protein and dairy.

If you’ve been stuck in a rut of fresh berries and a meager dollop of nut butter, you’ve been missing out on a great yogurt yassifier (a real word, in my mind): Birthday Cake Clusterbucks

What’s So Great About Lil Bucks Birthday Cake Clusterbucks?

The Clusterbucks from Lil Bucks have been a true breakfast hero for me, ever since I came across them during the COVID-19 pandemic. Each bag contains a good heaping of clusterbucks: big chunky granola pieces composed of sprouted buckwheat seeds, pumpkin seeds, coconut shreds bound together by maple syrup and coconut oil. The size of these gluten-free granola pieces alone made them appealing — you can break apart granola into finer pieces, but you can’t build it back up — and the incredible crunchy texture sealed the deal.

Clusterbucks also contain functional ingredients like buckwheat, a plant-based protein, and ashwagandha, a root plant that can help reduce stress and anxiety, so I have enough energy and focus to go about the restless lifestyle I lead every day. Coming in dessert-inspired flavors like matcha cookie, blueberry crisp, and lemon cookie, Clusterbucks are the granola for the people. I’m partial to the birthday cake flavor because it’s a perfect crunchy-to-the-nth-degree hybrid of a coconut macaroon with the energy of a Milk Bar birthday cake truffle (minus the overpowering sugariness).

What’s the Best Way to Use Lil Bucks Birthday Cake Clusterbucks?

The first thing I’d suggest is to obviously munch on it by the handful unadulterated (it’s that tasty). Granola like the Clusterbucks add a subtle but prominent flavor to your morning bowl of yogurt, oats, or even subbed in as cereal.

My typical 8 a.m. move is to start with a base of thick FAGE 0% Greek yogurt (a taste-test winner), crumble a couple clusterbucks between my hands to land directly on the yogurt, spoon in blueberries or pineapple, and a drizzle of honey or almond butter. It tastes like a celebration in a bowl.
